That's the way to get the season started, a 6 goal thriller including a hat-trick from Theo.
Well done Arsene, after that shocking draw at Liverpool, a good tub-thumping against Premiership new boys...just what the Gooners needed to restore our faith in this ever developing team.
How poor where Blackpool? Well they tried and scared us a bit, but after they went down to 10 men, it really was one way traffic. It could have been 8, maybe even 10, both Chamakh and Walcott missed sitters, but who really cares, it's the 3 points in the bank that count and a display that will hopefully silence those in the media who had already written Arsenal off to being a mid-table team this season.
It's actually quite hard to award a man of the match, because there were so many contenders : Theo get's the main nod as not only did he score 3, he also whipped in some brilliant crosses that should have been latched onto BUT... Song was back and he was quietly immense, he never really does anything outstanding.
He chased, tackled, passed and positioned himself extremely well to help Arsenal out of some potentially difficult situations.
Everyone will have their own opinions, these are just mine, but I am happy to report that the Gunners look like they can be very powerful this season so long as they remain injury free. |

Liverpool away : I would before the game and still do accept a point from a potentially hard fixture, I know we have had the spoils there for the last few years but this is now and a point will do.
Arsene Wenger was infuriated by Alex Fergusons comments last season when he said that all you have to do is play Arsenal on the counter attack and you will probably get the spoils, well for this game Arsene didn’t go gun ho with the team, it was 4-5-1 and let battle commence.
To be fair to the Scousers they did try to keep the ball on the green stuff a bit more for this match rather than just hoofing it as they usually do and maybe that was the bit that caught us knapping, but I doubt it, that bit comes down to one person again, The captain of the day Manuel Almunia who decided to let a hard working but devoid of talent lone striker for Liverpool beat him at the near post for a goal so unacceptable that it will probably be his last as first choice keeper for Arsenal.

I attended the fan day today and i also interviewed Nasri, Mannone and chatted to some of the squad in general before they attended the Child Awards Ceremony.
Fan Day - the reason why the near hour delay that caused such a disruption was because of the photo-shoot, it took a lot longer than anticipated and it has to be done with a empty stadium background s o Arsenal just left everybody outside until it was done. Contrary to belief, all the players turned up on time and were waiting to be photographed in the correct kits.
Bob Wilson was the compare for the day and the first thing he done was to call the whole squad out one by one and the first person he called was "our Captain for this season, Cesc Fabregas" Cesc got a great reception and a chorus of we've got Cesc Fabregas and his smile told a thousand words.

Arsene Wenger looks set to agree a new deal to stay in charge at Arsenal.Wenger, who turns 61 in October, will be out of contract next summer but confirmed at Friday's press conference ahead of the new Premier League season that a new deal was on the table.
The French coach has revolutionised the north London club since his arrival as a relative unknown in September 1996, going on to win the domestic double in his first full season. However, since the club moved to their new Emirates Stadium home, Wenger's young side have been unable to supply any more silverware, the last trophy being the 2005 FA Cup.

Arsenal continue to be linked with a move for German keeper Rene Adler.
The Bayer Leverkusen stopper was a reported target at the Emirates as long ago as April, with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger thought to be monitoring the keeper at the end of last season with a view to a summer deal.
25-year-old Adler is regarded as one of the finest goalkeepers in Europe, building on his reputation with consistently high level performances in the Bundesliga after making his debut back in 2007.
With well over 100 appearances in both league and cup, as well as European football, the Bayer star is more than equipped for the Premier League should the Gunners make a move.
At international level, Adler made his debut for Germany in late 2008 and was tipped to be the No.1 for the World Cup. However, an injury ruled him of that place in South Africa and Manuel Neuer took the coveted position during the tournament.
The Metro also link Stuttgart defender Serdar Tasci with a move to the Emirates, claiming the north London club need £20 million to secure the double signing.
A goalkeeper is believed to be the main priority for the club though, with Wenger yet to decide on his No.1 at the Emirates following good performances by Manuel Almunia and Lukasz Fabianski.
With Mark Schwarzer just one of a string of keepers linked with a move to the club, Frenchman Wenger is thought to be looking at several options as the start of the season moves ever closer.
